BunnyBazaar in Pet Suppliers & Care Directory

Ever since I can remember I have owned a pet. It started when I was four, a hamster called Honey Hammy. This little creature was a fantastic escapologist and one evening after getting out of his cage, climbed down the sideboard and ended up behind the fire, luckily it was summer so the fire was not being used, but dad was not too happy about dismantling it to rescue Honey Hammy, so his cage was well and truly secured after that. Then came various rabbits and at one stage nine guinea pigs (due to one very amorous male, Mopsey). He gnawed through his cage to get to his two female neighbours, Peanuts and Olga. When I was eleven, years of pleading with mom and dad paid off when they got me a dog. A west highland white terrier called Bonnie. She is fantastic with all the other animals (including my canaries) considering she is a terrier! The most memorable furry friend was a lop eared rabbit called Friday. I rescued her from my local RSPCA, she had been dumped in a box at their door on new years eve. She settled in very well but soon developed a swelling around her eye, after dental work and tear ducts being flushed out it got no better and resulted in her eye being removed. An abscess was found to be the culprit and the following two years was strict regime of draining the abscess every day. Friday coped very well and remained a happy, inquisitive little rabbit. Unfortunately it did not end there, she developed a lump and my worst fear was confirmed, it was cancer and it had spread throughout her body. She was such a strong willed little fighter but this as one fight she would never win, it was a week before Christmas and we had to say goodbye. Friday inspired me. I learnt a lot from owning her and only wish that more people would realise that these creatures are intelligent and can express love if we treat them with respect and dont put them in cages down the bottom of the garden where they are forgotten about. By working for Bunny Bazaar I hope to be able to do my bit and help give rabbits and all other little furries a better life. Love and bunny hugs from Kay and pets.
